Obituary for Edna Louise Sutton (Zaugg)

Edna Louise (Zaugg) Sutton, 105, passed peacefully Monday, December 11, 2017. Born in Huntington on September 8, 1912, she was a daughter to the late Ollie L. Zaugg and Marie Louisa (Bittner) Zaugg. Edna graduated from South Side High School in 1931 and went on to International Business College. She then met and married the love of her life, on October 9, 1957 the late, Ralph A. Sutton, who passed in 2004. She retired from International Harvester. She was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne. Edna would volunteer and participate in the Annual Sauerkraut Dinner over the years. She touch many lives doing charity work as a longtime member of the Sigma Beta Sorority. She was also a member of the Valparaiso Guild. Edna loved the Lord, reading, dancing, animals, traveling and being with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Marilyn Slagle of Fort Wayne and Steven Sutton of Downey, California; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sutton of Woodburn; son-in-law, Ronald “Bud” Armstrong of Auburn; 19 grandchildren, Cindi, Jackie, Jill, Tim, Jeff, Sara, Mark, Holly, Kevin, Ed, Erin, Kelly, Michelle, Terry, Laura, David, Stephanie, Chuckie and Shari; and numerous great and great great grandchildren; two nieces; and a nephew.

She was also preceded in death by; children, Shirley Armstrong, Audrey Craig and David Sutton; two grandchildren, Rosie Slagle and Ralston Craig; only sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Norv) Nahrwald; and a nephew, Steve Nahrwold.

Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. She will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
