Donna Jean Maples (Longsworth)
Donna Jean Maples, 73, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at Genesis Health Care in New Haven. Born in Van Wert, Ohio she was a daughter to the late Donald and Mildred Marie (Biberstine) Longsworth. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and had retired from the daycare there. Donna liked to keep her hands busy with crocheting, knitting and wire art. She enjoyed her gardens earlier in life with her family. Donna known for her love of children was the family babysitter.
She is survived by sons, Bill Maples and Donald Maples both of Fort Wayne; daughter, Laurie Maples of Van Wert, Ohio; grandson, Dillan; sister, Sharon Davis of Coldwater, Ohio; step brothers, Mic Biberstine and Steve Biberstine both of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 30 years, William E. Maples, in 1995; and a step sister, Sharon Trimm.
Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Officiating will be Pastor Larry Holderbaum. Calling is also 6-8 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the funeral home. She will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
